Larger unmanned aircraft could be able to carry mortars following a breakthrough by BAE Systems engineers in the northwest.
Previously, only unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) weighing up to 3kgs have been able to fire mortars because of the negative effects of propulsion power.
However, technological advances by BAE systems and its partners have enabled larger UAVs, weighing up to 25kg, to use mortars.
